The New Jersey State Bicycle Championships May 20th Downtown

The New Jersey State Bicycle Championships comes to Plainfield, New Jersey!
On Sunday, May 20, 2018, the best cyclists in the state and region will be in Plainfield, New Jersey to compete for the 2018 New Jersey State Bicycle Championship titles. The racing begins at 9:00 a.m. in front of City Hall-515 Watchung Avenue.

In advocating for healthy lifestyles and exercise, there will be bike donations, kid races and bike rodeos open to all of our Plainfield Public School Students. Bikes donations will operate on first come first serve basis. The cost is free to all of our students. Registration for students will be at Plainfield City Hall on the day of the event.

NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION FOR USA CYCLING ATHLETES EXCEPT FOR ONE DAY LICENSES WHICH MAKES YOU ELIGIBLE ONLY TO RACE IN THE CATEGORY 5 OR JUNIOR RACES. THERE IS RACE DAY REGISTRATION FOR THE KIDS RACES AT 12:30.

 

The state championships are an important event and we are going to dress it up this year. We will have a podium presentation for all categories immediately following your race. Bring your cameras! 

 

Course : 1.1 MILES FLAT 4 CORNERS! left turns- Watchung Ave. to Second Street to Park Ave. to Seventh Street back to Watchung Ave. with Start/Finish at 510 Watchung Ave., City Hall!


$15 off second race!                        
Promoter reserves the right to combine races or run races concurrently as necessary.

There are several different categories based on age and experience. The elite, or highest level cyclists, will be doing 25 laps of the course with their race starting at 12:00 p.m.

 

Little kids races will be at 11:30. Podium presentations will follow each race on the steps of City Hall.

The organizer, Greg Cordasco of Liberty Cycle in Basking Ridge New Jersey, said, " We are very excited to put on this event in downtown Plainfield. We have been promoting bicycle races for 25 years and this venue is one of the best suited for the racers and spectators.
